Haringey's Independent Traveller Training programme

Information session for parents and carers

Haringey Council’s School Travel Assistance team has introduced a new Independent Traveller Training programme to help young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) learn to travel independently between home and school.

On Wednesday 12th February 2025, SEND Power in Haringey hosted the Travel Assistance team at Chestnuts Community Centre. The team spoke about the new pathway, their plans for the future, and how it could help children who need travel assistance. The session was repeated later in the evening.

It was useful to hear about the new programme, and attendees were also able to feedback to the Travel Assistance team the challenges in accessing transport for their children.
