Our story
We are a new Parent Carer Forum, formally established in 2022. We are a warm and welcoming group of parents and carers of children and young people with SEND in Haringey.
Our mission
We aim to offer support to each other, share information, listen to our members’ experiences and views, and give a collective voice to parents and carers of children with SEND in Haringey.
We hope that our strong, shared voice will mean that services for our children and young people will improve.
About us
All local authorities in England are required to have a Parent Carer Forum (Children and Families Act 2014). SEND Power is the recognised forum for Haringey.
We aim to represent all the diverse communities of Haringey, as well as the full range of Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND). We gather parents’ and carers views, and represent these to Haringey Council and the NHS to help improve services for all of our children and young people, from babies up to 25 years old.
We are an independent group, currently hosted by the Bridge Renewal Trust.
We are members of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF).

I am mum to three children; two of whom are profoundly deaf cochlear implant wearers. As a family we use both spoken English and British Sign Language. I am passionate about sign language and the difference it can make to everyone's lives but not least the lives and education prospects of deaf children. I work in a nursery supporting deaf toddlers with language acquisition - both spoken and signed.
