Mental Health Coffee Morning

Wednesday 15th April 10am - 11.30am at Chestnuts Community Centre (N15 5BN)

In April, six of our members took part in a focus group to share their experiences of parenting children with mental health needs and talk about their interactions with CAMHS and other services.

Rachel Stephen, from the Tavistock and Portman Mental Health Trust, was there to hear their views and take them back to feed into planning and service improvement.

After the meeting, Rachel said, “What stayed with me very strongly was the tenacity and love that came through in everything the parents said. It is difficult to put into words for those who have not walked this path just how challenging, painful and relentless the journey can be. The parents spoke with such depth about the experiences of the children and young people they love so dearly – children full of potential and strength, and also so sensitive to the world around them. I feel deeply motivated by what I have heard.

I will be bringing their experiences, insights and priorities together into a report to feed back to those who manage and commission services in Haringey. I will feedback to you in June once this work has progressed.”
