SEND Consultation have your say event

Tuesday 21st November 1-2.30pm at Chestnuts Community Centre (N15 5BN)

Haringey Council is proposing to update and revise the language used to describe the needs of children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

They have co-produced new descriptors with parents, carers, schools, health professionals, and psychologists. Haringey wants to hear from you to ensure the new descriptors are accurate, useful and fair.

SEND Power in Haringey (Parent Carer Forum) are hosting two sessions with the Haringey SEND department so you can share your views and ask questions about the proposed EHCP banding descriptors.

What are banding descriptors?

The amount of money allocated to 'top up' existing school funding is determined by a series of descriptions of the needs of children.

These 'Banding Descriptors' determine how much money is allocated to support a child or young person with additional needs who has an ECHP and is paid to 'top up' or 'add to' the existing monies paid to the school for the child or young person.
