Steering Group Elections 2026 - 2027

Are you a Parent/Carer of a child or young person with SEND? Do you have some spare time? Want to help change things for the better? ‍Join SEND Power’s Steering Group

We are a friendly and supportive group of parents/carers who provide direction and representation for SEND Power in Haringey.

‍

Our main responsibilities are:

• Representing Parent/Carer views at meetings with the Local Authority and other relevant agencies
• Commenting on and contributing to relevant policies and documents
• Working on SEND projects within Haringey.
• Attending coffee mornings with schools and parent groups
• Supporting our members with our newsletter, online meetings, information gathering and sharing and monthly walk and talks

We are looking for enthusiastic people who want to help us create a lasting impact on the local services our children and young people need. Training can be provided.

Remuneration

Steering Group members can claim remuneration for meetings and preparatory work for meetings with external agencies (Local Authority, Health etc). Remuneration can also be claimed for childcare costs where necessary.

Time commitment

This dependson your flexibility and availability.

We meet as a Steering Group monthly to talk about the running of the forum and forward planning. These meetings are 1 hour 30mins in the evening are mainly online or occasionally in person at Chestnuts.

Meetings with the Local Authority usually last 1-2 hours, and are often monthly or every other month. You could sign up to be a rep on just one meeting, or several. Many of these are online, and some take place in person.

If you would like to join the Steering Group, please send a short expression of interest paragraph about yourself and saying how you would represent the views of other parents to hello@sendpowerinharingey.org This expression of interest will be shared with the wider membership.
